The surging demand for PCBs continues and is expected to put further pressure on the supply chain. This is primarily driven by the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence (AI), expanding data center infrastructure, and continued volatility in the commodities market.
How to act to stay ahead with the drastic shift in the PCB market
We see continued price increases for both gold, copper foil and copper clad laminate. Since December 2025, the price of gold has increased by about 20%, and the price of laminate by about 15-20%.
The current situation is not driven by price alone, but also by material availability. There is a shortage of high-grade materials required for advanced applications. Increased demand for these materials limits production capacity and extends lead times. This, in turn, reinforces price pressure and reduces availability of standard and mid-technology materials.
In our PCB supply chain outlook, we outline the macroeconomic drivers behind these changes and provide actionable strategies for procurement leaders to secure supply and manage costs in what is becoming a seller’s market.
