IPC standards

IPC develops standards for PCB design, manufacturing, and acceptance to ensure consistent product performance across industries. We follow the necessary standards when we produce our PCBs.

Key IPC standards we follow

IPC-6012: Rigid PCB standards

IPC-6012 defines quality requirements for high-reliability rigid PCBs. NCAB supports full compliance with key industry-specific addendums:

  • IPC-6012XS: Space and military avionics applications
  • IPC-6012XA: Automotive applications
  • IPC-6012XM: Medical device applications

IPC-6013: Flexible & rigid-flex PCBs

IPC-6013 ensures flexible and rigid-flex PCBs meet critical mechanical, electrical, and environmental demands in dynamic, high-stress conditions. These standards support industries where vibration, movement, and temperature shifts are common:

We also meet the IPC-6013XM medical addendum — defaulting to Class 3 when not specified.

IPC-6018: Microwave & radio frequency PCBs

IPC-6018 is actively used at NCAB for microwave and RF PCBs, especially in aerospace, defence, and high-frequency communication systems.
It is applied at both the documentation level and in factory production specifications.
