Our Sourcing Process
The most frequently asked question from our customers is; how do we approve a factory? That’s not surprising, because the factory is at the heart of everything that we do. Our process for finding and quality-assuring factories has ensured that we always have factories that match customer requirements. Finding & developing the best factories requires a broad and varied range of expertise:
The NCAB Group’s sourcing process described below tells how we approve our factories.

WORKING PROCEDURE FOR SOURCING IN THE NCAB GROUP:
The process of looking for new factories is triggered by market demands, new technologies and increased capacity needs.
The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for establishing plans and following the process from beginning to end. Facts are collected and proposals developed for factories that have been shortlisted. An important part of this research is to differentiate between the actual factories and the agents and traders. We always work directly with the factory.
3. FACTORY VISITS
We present the NCAB Group then inspect the factory, checking and gathering facts regarding its capacity, capability, ISO certification, UL approval, etc.
4. SAMPLING AND VERIFICATION
Samples are produced and tested by the NCAB Group’s own lab and/or in external labs and sometimes in customers’ labs. Test reports are produced and sent to the factories. If the initial samples are not approved, NCAB Group will then ask for a report outlining corrective actions, as well as a new set of samples to be produced and tested.
The Quality Assurance Team carries out an audit (2-3 people, 3 days in the factory), produces an audit report, and follows up any deviations.
6. DECISION AND CONTRACT SIGNING
If everything is in order, the NCAB Group Function decides to proceed with the next step of the factory approval process, negotiating the best possible terms and signing an agreement.
We then invite the factory’s staff to our office in Shenzhen, where our Factory Supervisors, CAM Engineers, Quality Assurance Engineers and Logisticians provide training in the NCAB Group’s requirements and working methods.
8. RAPID RAMP-UP
Our Factory Supervisor is on site in the factory and oversees the first orders for 1-2 weeks and, during that time, follows up the audit and monitors feedback and any need for rapid action. During the ramp
-up period a limited number of orders are placed in order to enable a smooth starting period.
9. APPROVED FACTORY
Having passed the approval process, the factory is then incorporated into the NCAB Group’s factory development programme.
