CSR – an important issue for the future

For NCAB, 2013 has been a good year, not only from a business perspective, not just the numbers, performance metrics, customer satisfaction levels but from a perspective that we really are focussing on our Corporate Social Responsibility with plans to be one of the very first companies to achieve and conform to the new ISO26000 standard during 2014.

Still there are differences between the environments our future generations grow up in – with our well appointed NCAB UK offices & warehousing based here in Wiltshire, in open countryside – it is a stark contrast to the industrial zones of southern China where many of the PCBs consumed by global electronics markets are made. But the picture is not as stark as it was perhaps 5 years ago, and definitely 10 years ago, the gap is decreasing, which is important and encouraging.

We all here at NCAB UK welcome our groups initiatives in respect of how we plan to work with environmental, human right and ethical issues in the next years, and our roadmaps are clear, well conceived and in our opinion, environmental work is not an isolated activity but an integral part of our entire supply process.

With our parent company head quartered in Sweden, CSR awareness, responsibilities and duties are not a new thing, in fact, we have been conducting our own detailed and in- depth CSR audits on all of our partner factories since 2011, so, although the ISO26000 standard is just recently introduced, – in many ways, it will formalise a process that we have been working with for the past 2 years.

Transparency is key in NCAB’s environmental and CSR work and all customers are offered full access to information and work that we have done, and continue to do.
